On 9 June 2026, representatives of the Association of Agrarian and Environmental Lawyers (AAEP) participated in a working meeting with representatives of the Požitavie–Širočina Local Action Group and mayors of municipalities from the region. During the meeting, participants discussed current challenges and issues in the field of waste management, opportunities for improving environmental policies at the local level, as well as practical experiences of local governments in providing services to residents.

The discussion enabled a valuable exchange of knowledge and experience between experts and local government representatives and highlighted the importance of mutual cooperation in addressing current environmental issues. The meeting also provided an opportunity to establish new contacts and identify areas of common interest.

AAEP has long supported the connection between academia and practice and considers such meetings an important tool for strengthening professional cooperation with regional partners. Representatives of the Požitavie–Širočina Local Action Group and the participating municipalities also expressed their interest in further cooperation, particularly in the areas of expert lectures, educational activities, and the exchange of knowledge related to environmental and agricultural issues.
