On February 11, 2025, the kick-off online meeting of the partners of the WasteWise project: Enhancing Governance for Sustainable Waste Management took place. The project is implemented under the Erasmus+ Small Partnerships KA210 program, project number 2024-2-SK01-KA210-VET-00026094. The project coordinator is the Association of Agricultural and Environmental Lawyers, and the partner is the company Cooperazione Paesi Emergenti (COPE).

Over the course of the 2-year project, the partners will carry out activities aimed at improving the education of employees from authorities and companies involved in waste management. The educational activities will primarily focus on the correct understanding of European and national waste legislation related to waste management and its implementation at the national level. A key activity of the project will be comparing waste management approaches between Slovakia and Sicily and exchanging experiences and best practices between partners.

The goal of the first meeting was to thoroughly familiarize the partners with the project and its activities, as well as to agree on the timeline for implementing the tasks and the distribution of responsibilities among the partners.

Currently, the partners are conducting a comparative analysis of waste management in Slovakia and Sicily, and its results will contribute to the planning of further, particularly educational activities for practical application.
